Winter 2014 Rubber Tramp Rendezvous in Quartzsite, AZ is officially over (thanks, Bob!). In the bag. Finito. Over for another year. Completo. Only the memories remain.
And what memories they are! New friends. For some: old friends. Nightly campfires under the very starry skies. Gorgeous sunsets. Meeting people in person we only knew online. Chili feed and soup pot dinners. Potatoes baked over coals. Checking out the rigs of other people. Learning to plug a tire or where to get your teeth cleaned across the border or how to install a solar panel. And the dogs. Oh the dogs. Dogs were everywhere!
Here’s just a few:
And then there were a couple of cats:
I watched Happy one afternoon while her owner went into town; she made herself right at home on my bed!
As much as I missed Dinah, the dogs took care of me. Some came and curled up on my lap without any coaxing; others just sat next to me with their foreheads on my leg. I know Dinah sent each one to me and her spirit ran the desert with them. I love that about animals – they know so much more than we do.
See you on the road somewhere!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE reading about your adventures. Be safe, my friend.
Thanks, Nancy! I’m going through some withdrawals over not having consistent internet access – I have so many words in my head that want to be written! I so appreciate your encouragement!
Jack & GrisGris are so excited for their photos to be in your blogpost.
Hi Ella! I didn’t know how to spell GrisGris’s name so I did it phonetically – I’ll go right back and fix that! Jack and GrisGris were my first “greeters” and for that, they hold special places in my heart… thanks for stopping by and commenting!
The viewing of the animal pics made my day as well as learning how they inserted themselves in your space. Thanks…..
Hi Susan! It was interesting to watch the cats and dogs – some of them had dog jobs that meant being “doggy” and others had different dog jobs to do… the two kitties, Jack and GrisGris, were in a rig closest to me and when I pulled in, they were my first greeters. They wore their little red harnesses with pride! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
So glad that Happy could bring you ‘tear’ of joy…she is such a good girl…and as you know..is my life…I don’t think I have ever had a dog as her…jazzed that you r out there doin’ the life of freedom…these words cam into my head the other night…You may have at one time ‘thought’ you had it all…but now you have everything!!!!…
Yes, indeed… your words are perfect, Oakley – it’s amazing to me how much I thought I had once upon a time and now having the world makes it seem like I never had anything at all. Aren’t we all philosophers today? Must be the sun 😀
