Every bunch of years or so, the Anza Borrego Desert in southeastern California does what’s known as a super-bloom; the last time one occurred out here was in 2005. A combination of lots of rain and lots of sun brings together the most amazing show of wildflowers that Mother Nature can dream up.

And dream it up this year, she did! The super-bloom is just beginning and will last a couple of weeks at which time the cactus bloom shoould start to come into full swing.

Indeed, it is a Super Bloom!

There’s no way to describe it so I’ll just post some pics here to show you what it looks like. If there’s any way possible you are anywhere near Southern California and can find the time to come out here and see it for yourself, do so. There will be lots of others here (indeed, there already are) to see the super-bloom with you; don’t let that scare you away. The flowers are worth it!

So there are just a few of what’s on display right now! I’m heading back out there to see what else has popped up in the past day or so.
